Tattoo artists in Brighton

Evenin' all.

I sometimes have occasion to go to Brighton for this and that and one of
those things is to get tattooed there. Problem is, last time I got inked
in Brighton was about 15 years ago and I don't know who's about now.
Last ones I had done were done by Gary White and Danny Fuller but GW
moved twice in the few years I was going and the (what was then) Blue
Dragon at the bottom of North St appears to have gone.

Any of you recommend a good one?

I've had a lot of work done by Moving Pictures in Cambridge over the
last few years but I don't have a lot of reason to go up to that part of
the world now which is a damn shame because they were bloody good
artists.

While I'm here can anyone recommend anyone in the London area also?

Cheers

Yeah, shame that. Ahem...

Temple Tatu on Boyces Street which may or may not have become Into You
Brighton. Inka in Kemp Town is doing some good work as well but Temple
have the best artists and ethos in the City.

I detect sarcasm :)

I visited a tattooist in Burgess Hill this weekend. He said he'd only
been doing it 6 years but I thought I'd give him a break and let him
work on me. All I can say is that it's ok but it's a bit "end of the
pier" for my liking. The colours are very dark and what on the flash was
looking like a perfect sphere, turned out to be a bit... well, a dark
greyed blue... err blobby thing.

I'd like to get it tidied up just as soon as it's healed.

Right, thanks. I'll have a look at them next time I'm down.

I'm not sure that 6 years means anything. I've Known artists who are
wonderful award winning at 1.5 years in. If you looked at his portfolio and
had him go ahead anyway then "giving him a break" was YOUR mistake.

To be fair, his custom work was very good but black tribal stuff isn't
really my bag. I had a feeling something was up when the blues he was
using looked like the consistency of treacle and wouldn't wipe off.

His portfolio was up on the walls in the form of photographs. Like I
said, his custom black and white stuff was good but I'll not be going
there again for anything out of the flash book.

Heh. It's not a /complete/ disaster, I'm sure the centre can be tidied
up and make good. His detailing is very good with linework but his
colouring in needs more work.

Wotcha Claire......

Its not becoming Into You any more. Jason has left and is setting up
Into-You Brighton with Alex Binnie.

I won't go into the full story here as I dont think its for public
consumption, but I've been seeing Pier quite a bit (lots of new hand poked
work) and have got the lowdown from him :)

But that said - a second for Temple from me (at least until Into-You opens).

Hello Grant!

I dont suppose there is a sneek peak of the work you have been getting
from Pier? I have been meaning to get work from him for about 3 years
now... Would love to see more of the work he is churning out...

Who ever said life is like Toilet Roll, the closer to the end you get the
faster it goes was prety bang on! Cant belive its almost may already.

So there is going to be An Into You in brighton? Nice! God knows the
world needs more *good* tattooists :)

Thanks, Claire and Grant.

Went to Temple Tatu this weekend and had a bit of filling in and
background work done by the veritable Lester.

Not a bad job, even if he did miss the yellow tips on 3 of my flames ;o)

He said I could go back in a few weeks for a follow up so I'll be
getting those done and will take a proper design down there and make the
time worthwhile - All that shading is painful!

Thanks to all who have posted sites with links to pictures and designs.
